Our Point of View
Persistent sensory overload can drive high reactive brains into a severe state of instability. The highly reactive brains of seizure victims are wasteful users of mental energy. This poor use of mental energy sets the stage for mental fatigue that fuels instability in the brain. This instability paves the way for the seizure. The seizure period is one where significant amounts of mental energy are being consumed in an effort to regain mental stability. We see a seizure as a reset function that pulls out all the stops in an effort to bring back stability. Seizure sufferers usually do not sleep well and as such experience regular bouts with mental fatigue, boredom, anxiety and low self-esteem. Mental efficiency can help correct wasteful mental energy function.
Our Lesson Plan
Tutor these high reactive brains to learn to be efficient during the day and the brains will build up the mental energy reserves necessary to support good quality sleep performance. Neurofeedback is an assistive technology process that can teach these brains to function efficiently. As they begin to learn to use mental energy wisely, they begin to sleep better and soon discover more ability to stay focused, perform more effectively, successfully and with stability. Managing seizures with a well rested brain is usual and expected!
