"Good Sleep Is Essential To Mental Vitality"
"Better Mental Vitality Means Better Memory"
"Better Memory Improves Our Sense of Well-being!"
Our Point of View
Alzheimers is the disease and dementia is the symptom. Dementia means that brain function has been compromised and or impaired. Science is busy seeking the biological reasons and until they do we offer you a perspective of dementia based on our mental energy model of mental fatigue fueled by worry/concern. Brains can be driven to excessive concern from excessive environmental demands (too much un-managed mental demands) and can also be pre-disposed to concern through genetic heritage. In either case worried, overstimulated brains engage in mental energy wasting activities that lower mental energy reserves and disrupt good sleep performance. Persistent mental fatigue coupled with the corresponding poor sleep can drive a brain toward exhaustion. We see dementia sufferers as functioning near mental exhaustion and naturally cognitive performance functions such as memory suffer impairment as a result.
Our Lesson Plan
Tutor these extremely mentally fatigued brains to learn to be efficient during the day and the brains will build up the mental energy reserves necessary to support good quality sleep performance. Neurofeedback is an assistive technology process that can teach these brains to function efficiently. As they begin to learn to use mental energy wisely, they begin to sleep better and soon discover more ability to stay vital and perform more effectively and successfully. Memory and sense of well-being improve significantly. Quality of life rises!
