Body tension is a reliable indicator that the brain has been experiencing stress for prolonged periods of time. When a brain is exposed to sensory stimulation that exceeds its ability to manage, the sensory stimulation becomes the cause of stress. In our modern digital age, sensory stimulation rates frequently exceed the brain’s ability to manage the demand. Under stressful circumstances the brain requires more energy than is available in real time. High mental energy consumption leads to mental fatigue. A fatigued brain responds with concern over low mental energy reserves. The brain’s prolonged concern results in the body tensing as a defense mechanism. Tensing up like people do when they are being tickled. Tension can become habituated (automatic) and when it does, brain function wastes mental energy unnecessarily, attempting to resolve body tension. Sleep quality usually deteriorates and mental fatigue gets re-inforced over and over again.

Tutor these stressed brains to learn to use mental energy efficiently during the day, and the brains will build up the mental energy reserves necessary to support good quality sleep performance.
